Komatsu North America has acquired SRC of Lexington, Inc. for an undisclosed amount. The acquisition sees Komatsu, a leading manufacturer of construction, mining, and utility equipment, integrate SRC of Lexington, an employee-owned company specializing in the remanufacturing of heavy-duty components. This strategic move aims to enhance Komatsu's aftermarket support and expand its capabilities in providing sustainable product lifecycle solutions.
SRC of Lexington operates a 77,000 sq ft facility equipped with modern machinery, holding an ISO 9001:2008 certification. The company remanufactures large diesel engines (11 - 78L), cylinder heads, hydraulic pumps, transmissions, torque converters, and axle assemblies, among other power-train products. Its customer base includes original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and large clients across the construction, mining, and oil and gas industries, for whom it provides critical remanufactured components.
The acquisition is strategically significant for Komatsu North America, allowing it to strengthen its parts and service network, particularly in the crucial area of remanufacturing. By bringing SRC's expertise and facilities in-house, Komatsu can further its commitment to sustainability by extending the lifespan of components and reducing waste. This integration is expected to improve parts availability, reduce lead times, and offer more cost-effective repair and maintenance options for Komatsu's extensive customer base.
Looking ahead, the combined entity is poised to deliver a more comprehensive and integrated service offering. This will enable Komatsu to provide enhanced support throughout the entire lifecycle of its equipment, from initial purchase to maintenance and eventual remanufacturing. The acquisition is anticipated to drive operational efficiencies and reinforce Komatsu's position as a provider of robust and sustainable solutions in the heavy equipment sector.
