AMPYR Distributed Energy (ADE) has acquired Shawton Energy, a specialist renewable technology provider, for an undisclosed amount. This corporate acquisition sees ADE, a company that funds, owns, and operates renewable energy assets, take ownership of Shawton Energy, which has been active in the industry for two decades delivering solar and battery projects to industrial and commercial businesses.
Shawton Energy has established a strong reputation for developing high-quality rooftop solar projects, leveraging its experience in building and construction. The company provides fully funded solar energy solutions, enabling businesses to cut electricity costs and reduce their carbon footprint without upfront capital investment. This approach is further exemplified by its recent partnership with Lazard, a joint venture targeting over £50 million of invested capital in new rooftop solar projects through private wire power purchase agreements over the next five years.
The acquisition is a strategic move for AMPYR Distributed Energy, one of the fastest-growing companies in the UK onsite renewables sector and part of the AGP Group, a global investor and asset manager. Shawton Energy’s established project pipeline, expertise in funded solutions, and strong client base perfectly align with ADE’s mission to accelerate the deployment of renewables across the UK. By bringing Shawton Energy under its ownership, ADE gains proven delivery capabilities and a model that simplifies access to onsite energy for customers.
The combined entity is expected to significantly enhance its capacity to deliver comprehensive decarbonisation solutions. This integration will strengthen the ability to offer fully funded, high-quality solar and battery storage projects, empowering more businesses to achieve their net-zero targets while securing cheaper, greener energy.
