SchedMD, founded in 2010 by the developers of Slurm, is renowned for its Slurm workload manager, which is utilized by approximately 40 percent of the world’s largest computers listed on the Top500. The company provides commercial support and development for the Slurm system, optimizing job scheduling and resource allocation for HPC, high-throughput computing (HTC), artificial intelligence (AI), and machine learning (ML) systems.
This acquisition marks a strategic move for NVIDIA to deepen its capabilities in the critical area of workload orchestration for complex computing environments. NVIDIA's advanced hardware, including its GPUs and accelerated computing platforms, relies on efficient software to manage and distribute demanding jobs.
