Coop has acquired Prisma Peremarket for an undisclosed amount, marking a significant consolidation in the Estonian retail sector. Prisma Peremarket, a prominent supermarket chain operating in Estonia since 2000, will now integrate into Coop's operations.
Prisma Peremarket currently manages 13 stores across Estonia and, together with its support unit, employs nearly 900 people. The chain is recognized for offering the widest selection and the most affordable shopping basket in the country. Its online counterpart, ePrisma, stands as Estonia's largest online store by selection. Prior to this acquisition, Prisma Peremarket was part of the S-Grupp retail conglomerate, which operates in both Estonian and Finnish markets and has a diverse portfolio including hotels and other retail segments, employing approximately 40,000 people overall.
This strategic acquisition is expected to significantly enhance Coop's market presence and competitive standing within Estonia. By integrating Prisma Peremarket's established network of stores and its strong brand reputation for variety and value, Coop aims to broaden its customer base and strengthen its retail footprint. The addition of ePrisma's robust online platform also provides Coop with an immediate boost in its digital retail capabilities, aligning with evolving consumer shopping habits.
The combination of Coop's existing operations with Prisma Peremarket's assets is anticipated to create substantial synergies. These include potential for optimized supply chains, improved purchasing power, and a more comprehensive offering across both physical and digital channels. The unified entity is poised to deliver an expanded and more competitive retail experience to consumers throughout Estonia.
