This strategic move sees the local authority take ownership of a significant housing provider operating across the Liverpool, Sefton, and Wirral areas, with additional properties in Llandudno. Prima Group, a well-established housing association, currently owns and manages over 2700 residential properties, catering to a diverse range of residents including families, single people, over 55s, students, key workers, and shared ownership homeowners. The acquisition marks a notable expansion of Knowsley Council's direct involvement in local housing provision and community development.

The group was formed in April 2022 through the merger of Pierhead Housing Association (Prima PHA) and Leasowe Community Homes (Prima Wirral), consolidating its community-based housing association operations.
