CrediaBank has acquired Pantelakis Securities S.A. for an undisclosed amount, marking a significant consolidation in the Greek financial sector. This acquisition sees CrediaBank taking ownership of one of Greece's oldest and most respected brokerage firms, known for its deep roots in the market and extensive service offerings.
Pantelakis Securities S.A., founded in 1920 by the Pantelakis family, has a long and distinguished history in the Greek brokerage industry, including a period as part of the HSBC group from 1990 to 2012. As a member of the Athens Stock Exchange, the company provides comprehensive brokerage and Equity Capital Markets (ECM) services across Greek Equities, Bond, and Derivatives markets. Furthermore, through its cooperation with HSBC London, Pantelakis Securities offers its clients access to major international Equities and Derivatives markets, establishing itself as one of the top ten leading brokerage companies in Greece. Its consistent high rankings in Thomson – Extel’s annual surveys for Country Sales and Research services to institutional clients underscore its strong market position and expertise.
The acquisition is strategically important for CrediaBank, allowing it to significantly expand its financial services portfolio and strengthen its presence in the Greek and international capital markets. By integrating Pantelakis Securities’ established brokerage operations, institutional client base, and highly-regarded research capabilities, CrediaBank aims to enhance its offerings in equities, bonds, and derivatives. This move is expected to create substantial synergies, combining CrediaBank's broader financial infrastructure with Pantelakis' specialized market knowledge and client relationships.
Looking ahead, the combined entity is poised to leverage these complementary strengths to deliver an expanded suite of financial products and services. This integration is anticipated to reinforce its competitive standing, providing enhanced value to clients and solidifying its position within the dynamic financial landscape.
