Shandong Gold Group Co., Ltd. has acquired Canadian gold exploration and development company Osino Resources Corp. for an undisclosed amount. Shandong Gold, a prominent entity in the global gold sector, has purchased Osino, which is primarily focused on developing its gold projects in Namibia. This transaction marks a significant expansion for Shandong Gold into a key African mining jurisdiction.
Osino Resources holds eighteen exclusive exploration licenses within Namibia’s prospective Damara belt. Its flagship Twin Hills Gold Project has a Definitive Feasibility Study outlining a 13-year open-pit mine with substantial gold reserves. The project benefits significantly from Namibia’s well-established infrastructure, including paved highways, railway, power, and water, and the country is recognized for its mining-friendly, politically, and socially stable environment. Osino has also been advancing its Ondundu Gold Project, further contributing to its mineral portfolio.
This acquisition is a strategic move for Shandong Gold, providing direct access to Osino’s advanced-stage development projects and extensive exploration portfolio. It allows Shandong Gold to expand its footprint into a stable and resource-rich African mining jurisdiction. Expected synergies include leveraging Shandong Gold’s operational expertise and financial capacity to accelerate the development of Osino’s projects and enhance exploration efforts, thereby increasing its overall gold reserves and production pipeline. This transaction represents a complete purchase of Osino Resources by Shandong Gold, not a funding round for Osino’s operations.
The combined entity is positioned to capitalize on Osino’s promising Namibian assets under Shandong Gold’s ownership and management. This is anticipated to drive further resource development and potential future gold production, strengthening Shandong Gold’s global presence in the gold mining industry.
