APG Asset Management has acquired NEXERA, Poland’s first exclusively wholesale telecommunications operator, for an undisclosed amount. This transaction marks a significant investment by APG, a global asset manager, into critical digital infrastructure. NEXERA specializes in developing a large-scale, high-throughput fiber-optic access network (NGA) across several regions in Poland. The company is actively building its optical fiber network in the Łódzki, Świętokrzyski, Kujawy with Pomorze, Mazowsze, and Warmia and Mazury regions, utilizing both POPC funding and its own projects. NEXERA aims to bring modern fiber connectivity to 1 million households and nearly 3,000 schools.
The acquisition aligns with APG's strategy of investing in essential infrastructure assets that offer long-term, stable returns and contribute to societal development. NEXERA's role in expanding high-speed internet access across underserved areas of Poland presents a compelling opportunity for APG to support the growth of digital connectivity. This move underscores the increasing institutional investor interest in the telecommunications infrastructure sector, particularly in fiber networks, which are fundamental to modern economies.
For NEXERA, this acquisition by APG is expected to provide robust financial backing and strategic support for its continued network expansion and operational goals. The synergy between APG's investment expertise and NEXERA's specialized operational capabilities in wholesale fiber infrastructure is anticipated to accelerate the deployment of its network. This partnership is poised to strengthen NEXERA's market position as a key enabler of digital transformation in Poland, ensuring broader access to high-quality internet services.
The combined entity is set to play a crucial role in advancing Poland's digital agenda, enhancing the country's telecommunications landscape. With APG's ownership, NEXERA is well-positioned to further its mission of delivering advanced fiber-optic connectivity, contributing to economic growth and digital inclusion across its target regions.
