Island Capital Group LLC

Island Capital Group LLC has acquired NAI Global, a leading global commercial real estate brokerage firm, for an undisclosed amount. The transaction transfers ownership of NAI Global’s extensive network to Island Capital, a privately held real estate investment and merchant banking firm. The deal was finalized following regulatory approvals, with terms remaining confidential between the parties.

NAI Global operates more than 300 offices across North America, Latin America, Europe, Africa, and Asia Pacific, supported by over 5,100 local market professionals. The firm manages in excess of 1.1 billion square feet of property and completes more than $20 billion in commercial real estate transactions annually. Its member offices function as independent leaders in their respective local markets while collaborating under the NAI brand to serve clients with cross-border needs.

For Island Capital Group, the acquisition brings direct control over a vast brokerage platform that complements its existing investment activities. The purchase allows Island Capital to integrate NAI Global’s transaction flow and property management capabilities into its broader real estate operations. This move is expected to strengthen Island Capital’s access to deal origination across multiple geographies, particularly in secondary and tertiary markets where NAI’s local presence is well established.

The strategic rationale centers on combining NAI Global’s brokerage volume with Island Capital’s capital markets expertise. NAI’s professionals will continue to operate under their existing brand, but with added support for financing, joint ventures, and principal investment opportunities sourced through Island Capital. The acquisition also provides a stable ownership structure for NAI’s affiliates, which previously operated under a franchise-like model with varying degrees of central coordination.

The combined entity is positioned to offer a fuller spectrum of services, from local brokerage to institutional-scale investment execution. Integration efforts will focus on aligning technology platforms and sharing market intelligence across the network. While no immediate leadership changes have been announced, the new ownership is expected to preserve NAI’s local-market autonomy while introducing more centralized capital resources.
