Torrent Power Ltd has acquired Nabha Power Limited, a company wholly owned by L&T, for $7,000. Nabha Power Limited operates a Supercritical Thermal Power Plant located at Rajpura in the Patiala district of Punjab. The plant is recognized as the lowest-cost source of quality electricity among all thermal power plants for the state of Punjab, playing a crucial role in propelling the commercial and industrial growth of the region by providing reliable and uninterrupted power supply.
Nabha Power is distinguished by its operational efficiency, featuring a low heat rate and low cost of power generation. It has also implemented efficient technologies for energy conservation, earning recognition from the Punjab Energy Development Authority (PEDA) as one of the most eco-friendly power producers. The company has received over 30 national and international awards, including the “National Energy Conservation Award” and the “National Energy Leader Award,” underscoring its commitment to excellence in the energy sector.
