HL7 Vulcan has acquired My Other Benefits, LLC, a Tacoma, Washington-based general agency, for an undisclosed amount. The transaction, which closed recently, transfers ownership of the specialty insurance distributor to HL7 Vulcan, a move that expands the acquirer’s footprint in the Pacific Northwest insurance distribution market.
My Other Benefits, known in the industry as MOB, operates as a general agency focused on identifying and distributing insurance products it describes as “market disruptors.” The company holds exclusive distribution agreements for Beam Dental in Washington, Oregon, and Idaho, and also provides access to self-funded carrier quotes, worksite marketing contracts, and administrative services such as ERISA wrap documents and COBRA support. Its stated tagline is “A Brokers Friend,” reflecting its role as a resource for independent brokers and agents.
For HL7 Vulcan, the acquisition brings immediate access to MOB’s established carrier relationships and its exclusive regional agreements, particularly with Beam Dental. The deal allows HL7 Vulcan to broaden its product portfolio without building new distribution channels from scratch. MOB’s existing broker network and its administrative service capabilities are expected to complement HL7 Vulcan’s current operations, though specific integration plans have not been disclosed.
The acquisition also adds a foothold in the Pacific Northwest, a region where MOB has concentrated its distribution efforts. HL7 Vulcan gains the ability to offer dental plans with high annual maximums and other niche products through MOB’s existing contracts. The deal does not include any disclosed changes to MOB’s leadership or its Tacoma operations, which will continue to serve its broker clientele.
With the transaction complete, the combined entity will focus on maintaining MOB’s exclusive agreements while exploring ways to extend those products to new markets. The integration of MOB’s administrative services with HL7 Vulcan’s broader platform may offer brokers a more streamlined approach to quoting and compliance, though no formal roadmap has been announced. The acquisition positions HL7 Vulcan to leverage MOB’s niche expertise as it seeks to grow its presence in the specialty insurance segment.
