Northlight Wine Collective has acquired Mischief and Mayhem Wines for an undisclosed amount. The transaction transfers ownership of the Burgundy-focused producer to the collective, which now adds the label to its portfolio of wine estates.
Mischief and Mayhem Wines, a producer of Grands vins de Bourgogne, has built a reputation for crafting wines from select parcels across the Côte de Nuits and Côte de Beaune. The company’s small-scale operation focuses on terroir-driven expressions, with a particular emphasis on Chardonnay and Pinot Noir from villages such as Puligny-Montrachet and Gevrey-Chambertin. Northlight Wine Collective, which oversees a group of independent wineries, brings expertise in distribution, vineyard management, and brand development to the table.
The acquisition is strategic for Northlight, as it deepens the collective’s presence in Burgundy, a region known for fragmented holdings and high entry barriers. By folding Mischief and Mayhem into its structure, Northlight gains access to established vineyard relationships and a recognized label without the lengthy process of building a new estate from scratch. For Mischief and Mayhem, joining the collective provides operational support and broader market reach, allowing its winemaking team to focus on production rather than administrative overhead.
The combined entity will retain the Mischief and Mayhem brand and its current winemaking approach, with Northlight providing back-office functions and sales channels. The deal is expected to streamline sourcing for the collective’s other properties, which may benefit from shared knowledge of Burgundian viticulture. No changes to staffing or vineyard contracts have been announced.
With this purchase, Northlight Wine Collective expands its footprint in one of the world’s most competitive wine regions. The integration is set to proceed over the coming months, with the first joint vintage anticipated under the existing Mischief and Mayhem label.
