Incap has acquired Lacon Electronic GmbH for an undisclosed amount. The acquisition sees the Finnish electronics manufacturing services (EMS) provider expand its footprint by incorporating Lacon, a full-service mechatronics supplier and one of Germany’s top 20 EMS providers. Lacon Electronic GmbH, based in Karlsfeld near Munich, has a history spanning 40 years, achieving an annual turnover of almost 60 million euros and employing approximately 600 people across its German and Romanian operations.
Lacon operates as an EMS accelerator, distinguished by its ability to realize complete products through extensive design, engineering, and production services. Its offerings span electronic module and system production, electromechanical component sales, and customer-specific hardware and software development for industrial automation through Lacon Embedded. The company serves a diverse customer base, from international technology corporations to SMEs and innovative start-ups, across industries such as rail systems, mechanical engineering, medical engineering, automotive, robotics, and innovative consumer products. Lacon's production facilities include high-volume operations in Romania, known for combining German quality standards with competitive factor costs.
This strategic acquisition is expected to significantly enhance Incap's European capabilities and market reach. Lacon’s deep expertise in Original Design Manufacturing (ODM) and its robust engineering services, particularly in complex electronics and mechatronics, complement Incap's existing EMS portfolio. The addition of Lacon’s broad customer and product base, alongside its established operations in Germany and cost-efficient production in Romania, strengthens Incap’s ability to offer comprehensive solutions across the entire product lifecycle, from prototyping to industrialization and full series production.
The integration of Lacon’s advanced design and engineering capabilities with Incap’s manufacturing scale is anticipated to generate substantial synergies. The combined entity will be better positioned to capitalize on opportunities in high-growth sectors, offering an expanded suite of services and a more resilient supply chain.
