Kirin has acquired Jamieson Wellness Inc. in a deal valued at $1.4 billion. The transaction, which has been finalized, transfers full ownership of the Canadian vitamin and supplement maker to the Tokyo-based beverage and pharmaceutical conglomerate. Jamieson Wellness will operate as a standalone subsidiary under Kirin’s expanding health science division.

Jamieson Wellness, founded in 1922, has built a century-long reputation as a heritage Canadian brand producing vitamins, minerals, and supplements. Its portfolio of trusted brands reaches more than 50 countries and regions, with a stated purpose of “Inspiring Better Lives Every Day.” Kirin, a major player in beer, soft drinks, and pharmaceuticals, has been actively diversifying into health-oriented businesses in recent years, seeking to reduce reliance on traditional alcohol sales.

The acquisition gives Kirin a direct entry point into the global dietary supplement market, a sector with steady consumer demand driven by aging populations and rising preventative health awareness. For Jamieson, the deal provides access to Kirin’s extensive research capabilities in fermentation and biotechnology, which could accelerate product innovation. Kirin’s established distribution networks in Asia also offer a pathway to deepen Jamieson’s penetration in that region, where the brand already has a presence.

The purchase price represents a premium over Jamieson’s recent trading levels, reflecting the strategic value Kirin places on the company’s brand equity and international footprint. No changes to Jamieson’s existing management team or operational headquarters have been announced, and the company’s Canadian manufacturing facilities are expected to remain in place.

With the transaction complete, the combined entity will pair Jamieson’s consumer brand strength with Kirin’s scientific and logistical resources. The immediate focus will be on integrating supply chains and exploring co-developed products that leverage both companies’ expertise. Market observers will watch how quickly Kirin can translate its new ownership into tangible growth across the supplement category, particularly in Asia, where competition from local and global players remains intense.
