Ludoil Energy has acquired ISAB S.r.l. for an undisclosed amount, marking a significant corporate acquisition in the European energy sector. ISAB S.r.l. operates one of Europe's largest and most complex industrial sites, encompassing refining, gasification, and electricity cogeneration plants located in Priolo Gargallo, Sicily. This transaction represents a direct purchase of ISAB's extensive assets and operations by Ludoil Energy.
ISAB's facilities consist of three interconnected production sites: "SOUTH Plants," "NORTH Plants," and the "IGCC Plant." The refining plants boast a processing capacity of 320 thousand barrels per day and a storage capacity of 4 million cubic meters for products and raw materials. Its Integrated Gasification Combined Cycle (IGCC) plant generates 532 MW of electric energy, utilizing gas produced from the gasification of one million tons per year of TAR, transforming it into synthesis gas. This process yields approximately 4 TWh/year of electricity, contributing 2% to Italy's national production. The company also holds certifications including ISO 14001, BS OHSAS 18001, ISO 50001, and ISO 9001, reflecting its operational standards and commitment to efficiency and environmental management. Over 1,000 people operate at these sites.
This acquisition is strategic for Ludoil Energy, significantly expanding its operational footprint and capabilities within the refining, gasification, and power generation sectors. By integrating ISAB's large-scale infrastructure and advanced processing technologies, Ludoil Energy gains a substantial asset with established market presence and a strong track record of continuous evolution and efficiency improvements. The move allows Ludoil to leverage ISAB's robust production capacity and its commitment to meeting market challenges while decreasing pollutant emissions.
The combination of Ludoil Energy's resources with ISAB's sophisticated industrial complex is expected to create a more diversified and resilient energy entity. The focus will be on optimizing the integrated operations, enhancing energy production, and maintaining the high operational and environmental standards established by ISAB, positioning the combined entity for sustained growth in the evolving energy landscape.
