AMH has acquired Invictus Energy Limited for an undisclosed amount in a corporate transaction that sees the acquiring company take full ownership of the independent oil and gas explorer. Invictus Energy, focused on high-impact energy resources in sub-Saharan Africa, holds a highly prospective portion of the Cabora Bassa Basin in Zimbabwe. The company declared multiple high-quality gas-condensate discoveries at its Mukuyu Gas Field in late 2023 and has been actively transitioning from an exploration phase to a developer role, aiming to become a critical energy supplier for southern Africa.
Invictus Energy's asset portfolio includes SG 4571, home to the Mzarabani conventional gas-condensate prospect, identified as one of the largest undrilled, seismically defined structures in onshore Africa with significant potential. The company's work has established gas-to-power commercialisation pathways, positioning its resources to provide reliable energy supply to the rapidly expanding southern African market. This acquisition by AMH underscores a strategic move to secure and develop substantial energy assets within the region.
The acquisition is expected to generate significant synergies by combining Invictus Energy's proven resource base and development pipeline with AMH's capabilities, potentially in capital, infrastructure, or market access. This strategic alignment aims to accelerate the appraisal, development, and commercialisation of the Cabora Bassa Basin's energy resources. The move will allow the newly combined entity to expedite the conversion of discovered gas resources into a reliable energy supply for industrial and commercial use across southern Africa.
Looking ahead, the integration of Invictus Energy into AMH's operations is anticipated to enhance the pace of resource development and strengthen the region's energy security. The combined entity is positioned to become a significant contributor to meeting the growing energy demand in southern Africa through the full realisation of the Cabora Bassa Basin’s potential.
