This strategic move sees Salzgitter taking full ownership of the company, which specializes in the production of steel and pre-products for the processing industry. HKM, known for its long-standing experience and comprehensive industry know-how, is a significant player in the German steel sector.
Hüttenwerke Krupp Mannesmann GmbH operates as the second-largest integrated steel mill in Germany, contributing approximately 12% of the raw steel produced nationwide. With around 3,000 employees, the company annually produces about four million tons of steel. Its core competence lies in the production of slabs and round steel, which are subsequently processed into large pipes, body components, and used for forging purposes and the manufacturing of seamless pipes. HKM is also the largest employer in Duisburg South.
The acquisition is poised to significantly strengthen Salzgitter's position within the European steel market.
