Frasers Group has acquired Harvey Nichols for an undisclosed amount, taking full ownership of the luxury British department store chain. The deal transfers the nearly 200-year-old retailer, founded in 1831 by Benjamin Harvey as a linen shop in Knightsbridge, into the portfolio of the retail conglomerate led by Mike Ashley’s successor.

Harvey Nichols operates stores in Manchester, Dublin, Edinburgh, Leeds, Birmingham and Bristol, alongside its flagship Knightsbridge location and the OXO Restaurant overlooking the Thames. The company describes itself as a boutique department store offering curated fashion, exclusive launches and styling expertise, with spaces designed to surprise and inspire. Frasers Group, which owns a range of sports, fashion and lifestyle brands, has been steadily expanding its presence in premium retail through a series of acquisitions.

The purchase gives Frasers Group direct control over a heritage name in luxury retail, complementing its existing portfolio of premium and aspirational brands. For Harvey Nichols, the backing of a larger group provides access to greater operational resources and supply chain infrastructure, which could support its multichannel ambitions. The acquisition also aligns with Frasers Group’s stated strategy of elevating its retail offer and securing prime locations in key UK and Irish cities.

Both companies have declined to disclose the financial terms of the transaction. The deal is expected to close following customary regulatory approvals, with no immediate changes announced to Harvey Nichols’ management team or store operations. The acquisition adds a distinctive luxury player to Frasers Group’s holdings, and the combined entity will now operate across a broader spectrum of the retail market, from value-focused sportswear to high-end fashion. The coming months will show how the group integrates Harvey Nichols’ boutique model into its larger commercial framework.
