VALD has acquired GymAware for an undisclosed amount, bringing together two Australian sports technology companies. GymAware, a global leader in Velocity Based Training (VBT) solutions, will now operate under the VALD portfolio, which provides human measurement and analysis tools for health, sport, and workforce sectors.

GymAware develops products such as the GymAware RS and FLEX systems, which allow coaches and athletes to measure and track strength training in the weight room. Its technology is used by elite organizations including the Milwaukee Bucks, Singapore Sports Institute, the Dutch Olympic Team, US Ski, and the English Institute of Sport. The company reports its tools are present in weight rooms across 67% of NBA teams, 41% of NFL teams, 68% of NHL teams, and 77% of MLB teams. GymAware also introduced the FLEX, described as the world’s first laser-based VBT device, which has received independent scientific validation.

For VALD, the acquisition expands its offering into strength and conditioning, a segment adjacent to its existing musculoskeletal and cognitive assessment platforms. VALD’s current products are used by more than 5,000 organizations globally, though the company did not disclose specific customer details in this announcement. The deal aligns with GymAware’s stated objective of making high-quality VBT accessible across different training environments, a goal that may benefit from VALD’s broader distribution network.

The transaction is expected to integrate GymAware’s validated performance tools into VALD’s ecosystem, allowing shared clients to combine strength data with other physical metrics. Both companies are members of the Australian Sports Technologies Network, and the acquisition consolidates their presence in the sports tech sector. No changes to GymAware’s product lineup or existing customer contracts were announced.

The combined entity will focus on delivering a more complete data picture for coaches and clinicians, from force and velocity measurements to broader movement assessments. With GymAware’s established elite-level credibility and VALD’s scale, the merged operation is positioned to deepen its reach across professional leagues and institutional training programs.
