Scandi Standard has acquired Glenhaven Foods for $146.2 million. The transaction, completed through a share purchase agreement, transfers full ownership of the Irish poultry producer to the Stockholm-based company. Glenhaven Foods will operate as a wholly-owned subsidiary under Scandi Standard’s existing structure.

Glenhaven Foods, founded in 1986 by the Cahill family in County Wicklow, is Ireland’s largest producer of value-added frozen poultry products. The company supplies branded and private-label items to retail and foodservice customers across the UK and Ireland. It operates two factories in Arklow, employing 180 people, and recently completed a €20 million investment to expand capacity and introduce new cooked product categories. That new plant was commissioned in early 2019.

For Scandi Standard, a major player in the Nordic and European poultry market, the acquisition broadens its product portfolio into value-added frozen goods and strengthens its presence in the UK and Irish markets. The deal also provides access to Glenhaven’s established customer relationships in retail, foodservice, and industrial channels. Scandi Standard’s management noted that the purchase aligns with its strategy to grow through acquisitions in markets where it sees long-term demand for convenient poultry products.

The acquisition is expected to generate operational efficiencies through shared supply chains and distribution networks. Scandi Standard plans to retain Glenhaven’s existing workforce and management team, with the Cahill family continuing to play a role during the transition. The purchase price of $146.2 million reflects Glenhaven’s recent capacity expansion and its growth trajectory in the frozen poultry segment.

The combined entity will now serve a wider geographic footprint, with Glenhaven’s Irish production complementing Scandi Standard’s existing facilities in Sweden, Denmark, and other European markets. Integration efforts will focus on aligning production standards and expanding cross-selling opportunities between the two companies’ product lines.
