SEG has acquired GIANTS Netball for an undisclosed amount, taking full ownership of the Super Netball franchise from Netball NSW. The deal transfers the license and operational control of the team, which was formed in 2016 through a strategic alliance between Netball NSW and the GWS GIANTS AFL club. GIANTS Netball was established to expand opportunities for the 116,000 registered netball members in New South Wales, providing a pathway to represent the state at the highest domestic level and increasing access to live matches featuring elite players.
SEG, the acquiring entity, steps in as the new owner with a focus on the franchise’s continued development. The acquisition consolidates the team’s management under a single commercial operator, moving away from the previous shared governance structure. For Netball NSW, the sale allows the state body to redirect resources toward grassroots participation and member services, while SEG assumes responsibility for the team’s high-performance program, commercial partnerships, and fan engagement.
