Emergent Cold LatAm has acquired Friobox for an undisclosed amount. This corporate acquisition sees Emergent Cold LatAm expanding its capabilities by integrating Friobox's specialized packaging solutions. Friobox is known for its innovative, 100% curbside recyclable insulated containers designed for shipping perishable goods. These containers leverage thin film low emissivity ("Low-e") coatings, similar to those used in energy-efficient windows, deposited on cardboard to effectively deflect heat. This results in an insulation system capable of matching, and in some cases exceeding, the performance of traditional high-performing insulation used for temperature-sensitive transport.
This acquisition is strategic for Emergent Cold LatAm, a key player in cold storage and logistics across Latin America. Friobox’s technology offers a complementary solution to conventional refrigerated warehousing and transportation, particularly for specialized or last-mile deliveries where traditional cold chain infrastructure may be less practical or efficient. The integration of Friobox's advanced, sustainable packaging aligns with a growing industry demand for environmentally conscious and adaptable cold chain solutions.
The combined entity is expected to realize significant synergies. Emergent Cold LatAm gains proprietary insulated packaging technology, allowing it to offer enhanced, end-to-end cold chain services that extend beyond fixed infrastructure. Friobox, in turn, benefits from Emergent Cold LatAm's extensive network and operational scale across Latin America, potentially accelerating the adoption and reach of its innovative products. This move positions the combined organization to deliver more comprehensive and sustainable temperature-controlled logistics, addressing diverse needs within the perishable goods supply chain.
