Volkswagen AG has acquired Everllence for $6.0 billion, marking a significant expansion into advanced energy and decarbonization technologies. Everllence, formerly known as MAN Energy Solutions, is a leading provider of propulsion, decarbonization, and efficiency solutions across shipping, the energy economy, and various industries. This acquisition integrates Everllence's specialized expertise into Volkswagen AG's broader industrial portfolio, signaling a strategic move towards sustainable energy solutions and the global energy transition.
Everllence's innovative portfolio includes ship and power-plant engines, along with retrofit solutions designed for climate-neutral fuels. The company also develops large-scale heat pumps for decarbonizing heat supply and advanced carbon-capture and storage technologies. Through its subsidiary, Quest One, Everllence manufactures electrolyzers crucial for green hydrogen production, supporting the global hydrogen ramp-up. Headquartered in Germany, Everllence employs approximately 15,000 people across more than 140 sites worldwide, supported by its global after-sales brand, Everllence PrimeServ.
The acquisition is strategically aligned with the increasing global demand for sustainable industrial solutions and the imperative to reduce hard-to-abate emissions. By bringing Everllence's "Moving big things to zero" motto and its cutting-edge technologies under its umbrella, Volkswagen AG aims to leverage these capabilities to accelerate its own sustainability initiatives and expand its footprint in new energy sectors. The synergy is expected to drive innovation in climate-neutral fuels, hydrogen production, and industrial decarbonization across a wider range of applications.
This integration positions the combined entity to play a more prominent role in the global energy transition. Volkswagen AG will benefit from Everllence's established leadership in critical decarbonization technologies, while Everllence gains access to the resources and scale of a major industrial group. The acquisition is set to enhance the development and deployment of solutions that empower key industries to achieve their emission reduction targets and contribute to a sustainable future.
