Epiroc has acquired EventSpec, a World Class Heavy Engineering and Mining Company based in Johannesburg, South Africa, for an undisclosed amount. This strategic move sees Epiroc expanding its capabilities within the heavy engineering and mining sectors by integrating EventSpec's specialized design, manufacturing, and refurbishment expertise.
EventSpec brings 21 years of experience as a market leader, known for its outstanding project management and performance levels. The company specializes in delivering turnkey solutions through its in-house design department, utilizing industry-leading CAD software. Its full capability in specialized machining allows for the in-house manufacturing of critical parts such as Winches and Winders, Padfoot Shells, Rock Buckets, and components for Drill Rig Boom Refurbishments. EventSpec also holds a patent for a competitive Rock Buckets wear-parts system, offering cost-effective solutions to clients.
The acquisition is expected to generate significant synergies, leveraging EventSpec's 3400m2 workshop, which houses dedicated CNC, Conventional Lathes, and Milling Machines, alongside full capacity for Fabrication and Final Assembly Facilities for Underground Drill Rig Booms. EventSpec's Hydraulic Assembly Room and expertise in reverse engineering, coupled with stringent quality control and ISO accreditation, will complement Epiroc's existing operations. This integration will enhance Epiroc's ability to provide comprehensive solutions, from design and manufacturing to specialized component refurbishment and maintenance.
