Keppel Infrastructure Trust (KIT) has acquired Enpal, Europe’s leading new energy company, for an undisclosed amount. The transaction, finalized through a KIT subsidiary, transfers full ownership of Enpal’s operations and assets to the Singapore-based infrastructure trust, which manages a diversified portfolio of energy, transportation, and waste management assets. This marks KIT’s entry into the European residential solar and storage market.
Enpal builds and operates integrated home energy systems, combining solar panels, battery storage, wall boxes, smart meters, and heat pumps. Its proprietary Enpal. One+ platform uses artificial intelligence to connect tens of thousands of storage units, allowing households and businesses to trade electricity in real time with the broader market. With over 115,000 customers and roughly one gigawatt of installed capacity, Enpal’s network functions as a decentralized power plant, optimizing procurement and feed-in to lower costs and improve grid stability.
For KIT, the acquisition provides a scalable platform in the fast-growing distributed energy sector, a shift from its traditional focus on large-scale infrastructure. Enpal’s technology and customer base offer KIT a direct channel to residential energy management, a segment with strong regulatory tailwinds across Europe. The deal also gives Enpal access to KIT’s long-term capital base, which can support further expansion of its AI-driven energy network without the pressure of short-term fundraising.
The combined entity is expected to leverage KIT’s financial strength to accelerate Enpal’s rollout across additional European markets, while Enpal’s operational expertise will inform KIT’s broader decarbonization strategy. Integration efforts will focus on aligning governance and reporting structures, with Enpal’s management team remaining in place to preserve its innovation pace. The acquisition positions the group to compete more aggressively in the transition toward decentralized, intelligent energy systems, though near-term financial contributions to KIT’s distributions will depend on Enpal’s continued customer growth and regulatory developments in key markets.
