RWJBarnabas Health has acquired Englewood Hospital for an undisclosed amount. This strategic move integrates Englewood Hospital, a key component of Englewood Health, one of New Jersey’s leading healthcare systems, into the RWJBarnabas Health network.
Englewood Health, established in 1890, delivers nationally recognized inpatient and outpatient care through its hospital and an extensive network of physician practices, urgent care centers, and imaging centers. Englewood Hospital consistently earns high marks for clinical excellence and patient safety, holding a Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade ‘A’ and multiple Top Teaching Hospital designations, including in 2024. It is also recognized for nursing excellence by the Magnet Recognition Program. The Englewood Health Physician Network, comprising over 650 providers, offers primary and specialty care at more than 100 locations across northern New Jersey, with clinical strengths in cardiac surgery, cancer care, orthopedics, spine surgery, vascular surgery, and women’s health, alongside specialized programs and various residency and training programs.
This acquisition is strategically aimed at enhancing access to comprehensive healthcare services and expanding the geographic reach of RWJBarnabas Health. By integrating Englewood Health’s established clinical excellence and community-focused initiatives, the combined entity is expected to strengthen healthcare delivery across northern New Jersey. Synergies are anticipated in shared best practices, expanded specialty services, and a more coordinated approach to population health, including outreach to underserved communities and addressing mental health and substance use disorders. The integration will leverage Englewood Health’s state-of-the-art imaging centers and its focus on health equity.
