Fortum has acquired Elmera Group ASA, a publicly listed Norwegian energy services and electricity retail conglomerate, for an undisclosed amount. This corporate acquisition sees Fortum taking ownership of a group known for its extensive operations in power agreements, energy-related services, and specialized software solutions across the Nordic region.

Elmera Group ASA is the parent company of several entities providing counseling, services, and computer software to energy companies. The group also offers power agreements and various products supporting the low-emission society. Its portfolio includes four electricity retail companies, with three in Norway and one serving customers in Sweden and Finland. Key subsidiaries include AllRate AS, Steddi Payments AS, Elmera Nordic AS, Gudbrandsdal Energi AS, Energismart Norge AS, and a 40% stake in Metzum AS. Fjordkraft AS is Norway's largest electricity retailer, owning TrøndelagKraft AS and a 61% share in Fjordkraft Mobil AS.

This acquisition represents a strategic move for Fortum to expand its footprint and capabilities within the Nordic energy market. By integrating Elmera Group's established electricity retail businesses and its specialized service and software offerings, Fortum aims to strengthen its position in the evolving energy landscape. The transaction is expected to enhance Fortum's customer base and diversify its service portfolio, particularly in solutions for the low-emission society.

Expected synergies from this corporate transaction include operational efficiencies and expanded market reach across Norway, Sweden, and Finland. The integration of Elmera's software and service expertise is anticipated to bolster Fortum's ability to innovate and deliver comprehensive energy solutions.

The combined entity is poised to leverage Elmera Group's strong retail presence and service infrastructure with Fortum's broader strategic objectives, aiming to create a more robust and competitive player in the Nordic energy sector, well-equipped to address future market demands and contribute to sustainable energy transitions.
