Anthropic has acquired Decart for $6.0 billion in an all-cash transaction, the companies confirmed today. The deal, which has received regulatory approval, transfers ownership of Decart’s technology, team, and operations to Anthropic, marking the largest acquisition in the AI infrastructure sector this year.
Decart specializes in systems-level AI infrastructure that delivers a tenfold improvement in both training and inferencing for large generative models. The company also develops its own foundational generative interactive models, which it deploys in real-time applications for end users. Anthropic, a developer of advanced AI systems, will integrate Decart’s engineering capabilities into its existing research and product development pipeline.
The acquisition is driven by Anthropic’s need to reduce computational costs and latency across its model lifecycle. Decart’s infrastructure expertise directly addresses bottlenecks in scaling large models, particularly for real-time inference workloads. By bringing this capability in-house, Anthropic aims to accelerate model iteration cycles and lower operational expenses, which are critical factors as AI models grow in size and complexity.
For Decart, the deal provides access to Anthropic’s broader research resources and distribution channels. The company’s interactive model technology will be folded into Anthropic’s product suite, with Decart’s team remaining intact and operating as a dedicated unit within the acquirer. No changes to existing customer contracts or service levels have been announced.
The combined entity will focus on deploying Decart’s infrastructure across Anthropic’s full range of models, with initial integration efforts targeting training efficiency gains. The transaction is expected to close within the current quarter, after which the two engineering teams will begin joint development on next-generation inference systems.
