Equinix has acquired DC01UK, a proposed state-of-the-art data centre development in the UK, for an undisclosed amount. This corporate acquisition sees Equinix taking ownership of what is poised to become one of the largest data centres in the UK and Europe. DC01UK, planned for East of South Mimms Services, is designed to offer up to two million square feet of data centre floor area. The facility aims to support the UK's digital economy and its increasing reliance on services such as streaming, online banking, and cloud storage, while also catering to emerging artificial intelligence demands. The project recently secured outline planning permission from Hertsmere Borough Council in January 2025.
The acquisition of DC01UK represents a significant strategic expansion for Equinix, a global digital infrastructure provider.
