Koch Engineered Solutions has acquired DarkVision Technologies Inc., a British Columbia-based industrial imaging company, for an undisclosed amount. The transaction places DarkVision under the umbrella of Koch Engineered Solutions, a subsidiary of Koch Industries, which was already an investor in the company.
DarkVision, founded in 2013, develops acoustic-based imaging platforms used to inspect the integrity of critical industrial assets such as pipelines and tubular infrastructure. Its technology captures large-scale ultrasound datasets and combines them with 3D visualization and machine learning analytics. The company’s product line has generated significant revenue and received industry recognition. Its team includes specialists in mechanical and electrical engineering, software development, and applied research.
The acquisition is intended to accelerate DarkVision’s expansion into additional industrial verticals beyond its initial focus on tubular inspection. Koch Engineered Solutions brings access to broader industrial networks and operational expertise, which could support the scaling of DarkVision’s engineering, sales, and production capacity. DarkVision will continue to operate from its 52,000-square-foot headquarters in Vancouver, with existing offices in Canada, the United States, Europe, and the Middle East.
For Koch Engineered Solutions, the deal adds a proprietary imaging platform to its portfolio of industrial technologies, potentially enabling new service offerings in asset integrity management.
