The transaction brings BlackSea’s unmanned surface vessels, modular payloads, and expeditionary logistics capabilities under AEVEX’s umbrella, expanding the buyer’s reach beyond its established air domain work.
BlackSea Technologies builds and supports maritime systems across the full operational lifecycle, from design and production to at-sea sustainment. Its teams have experience in naval engineering, special operations, and advanced manufacturing, and have stood up production lines for urgent defense needs. AEVEX, which provides engineering, integration, and mission support services primarily in the air sector, gains a complementary water-based offering that broadens its service lines for government clients.
The acquisition is strategic for AEVEX because it diversifies the company’s capabilities into a growing area of defense demand: autonomous and unmanned maritime operations. BlackSea’s fielded systems and existing government relationships give AEVEX an immediate foothold in this segment without requiring a from-scratch build-out. For BlackSea, joining AEVEX provides access to larger-scale engineering resources and a wider corporate infrastructure, which could accelerate production capacity and program support.
