Summit Helicopters has acquired Blackcomb Helicopters for an undisclosed amount. The transaction sees Summit Helicopters take ownership of Blackcomb Helicopters, a prominent independent helicopter charter company that has served British Columbia, Alberta, the US Pacific Northwest, and other regions for nearly 30 years.
Blackcomb Helicopters operates a large and varied fleet, performing a wide array of specialized aerial operations. Its diverse client base spans key industries and public services, including power line construction and maintenance, general construction, forestry, tourism, film and TV production, utility work, firefighting, search and rescue, emergency airlifts, and executive charters. Headquartered in Boundary Bay, the company maintains operational bases in Squamish, Whistler, Pemberton, Bridge River Valley, Lillooet, Terrace, and Edmonton, Alberta, holding all necessary Air Operator and Aircraft Maintenance Organization certificates.
This acquisition is a strategic move for Summit Helicopters, aiming to significantly expand its operational footprint and service capabilities. The integration of Blackcomb Helicopters' established market presence, diverse service portfolio, and extensive fleet is expected to create substantial synergies. These include enhanced operational efficiencies, a broader range of specialized services, and expanded geographic reach across Western Canada and into the US Pacific Northwest. The combination will leverage Blackcomb's expertise in various aerial operations to complement Summit's existing offerings.
The combined entity is poised to become a more comprehensive and robust provider of helicopter services. This integration is anticipated to strengthen the ability to serve a wider spectrum of clients and industries, ensuring continued safe and reliable aerial support for critical operations and specialized needs across an expanded service area.
