Tabcorp has acquired BetMakers Technology Group for $267.0 million, a cash transaction that brings the Australian wagering and media giant together with a global provider of betting technology and data services. The deal, announced on Monday, sees Tabcorp take full ownership of the ASX-listed BetMakers, which supplies software, managed trading services, and pari-mutuel solutions to licensed bookmakers and racing bodies across more than thirty countries.

BetMakers operates through three core business lines: Global Betting Services, Global Tote, and Global Racing Network. Its offerings include digital platforms, race vision and streaming, form and informatics, integrity solutions, and wagering terminals. Tabcorp, a major player in Australian racing and sports betting, is acquiring these capabilities to broaden its technology stack and extend its reach beyond its domestic market. The purchase price represents a premium to BetMakers’ recent trading levels, reflecting the strategic value Tabcorp places on the company’s international footprint and its proprietary tote technology.

For Tabcorp, the acquisition addresses a clear gap in its portfolio. While the company has strong retail and digital operations in Australia, it lacks the scalable, cross-border technology infrastructure that BetMakers has built. By integrating BetMakers’ data analytics, integrity tools, and pari-mutuel systems, Tabcorp can offer more robust services to its existing partners while also entering new markets where BetMakers already has established relationships. The deal also provides Tabcorp with a pathway to diversify revenue, reducing reliance on its home market’s regulatory environment.

For BetMakers, the acquisition ends its standalone listing and provides access to Tabcorp’s larger balance sheet and operational scale. The company’s employees and product lines are expected to remain largely intact, with Tabcorp indicating it will retain BetMakers’ existing client contracts and development teams. The transaction is subject to regulatory approvals, including clearance from the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission, with completion anticipated in the second half of the year.

Once finalised, the combined entity will hold a stronger position in the global wagering technology sector, particularly in pari-mutuel markets where BetMakers’ Global Tote solution is a key asset. Tabcorp’s immediate focus will be on integrating BetMakers’ operations and ensuring continuity for its international clients, while exploring cross-selling opportunities between its own retail network and BetMakers’ digital tools. The success of the deal will likely hinge on how smoothly Tabcorp can manage the integration without disrupting BetMakers’ existing partnerships.
