MARI has acquired ATG Entertainment for an undisclosed amount, a transaction that transfers ownership of one of the world’s largest live entertainment operators to the acquiring company. The deal, which has been completed, brings ATG’s extensive venue portfolio and ticketing operations under MARI’s control.
ATG Entertainment owns, operates, or programmes 72 venues across Britain, the US, and Continental Europe, including historic theatres, studio spaces, cinemas, conference centres, and modern live music arenas. The company presents over 15,000 live performances annually, ranging from major musicals such as Cabaret at the Kit Kat Club and Harry Potter and the Cursed Child to popular music and comedy shows. Its ticketing platform processes more than 18 million tickets each year, with ATGtickets.com attracting over 55 million unique visitors annually. Headquartered in London and Woking, ATG also maintains offices in New York and Cologne.
For MARI, the acquisition provides direct ownership of a substantial live entertainment infrastructure, including prime real estate in key urban markets and a proprietary ticketing system. The strategic rationale centres on vertical integration: MARI gains control over both the production and distribution sides of live events, from venue operations to consumer ticket sales. This reduces reliance on third-party platforms and creates a more direct relationship with the 18 million audience members ATG entertains each year.
The combined entity is expected to leverage ATG’s established relationships with producers and promoters, while MARI brings its own operational and financial resources to support venue upgrades and digital ticketing improvements. No changes to ATG’s management or venue programming have been announced as part of the deal.
The acquisition positions the combined company to compete more aggressively in the live entertainment sector, with a footprint spanning three continents. Integration of ticketing data and venue operations will likely be a near-term focus, as will maintaining the performance schedules that currently draw millions of visitors annually.
