Jindal Power Limited has acquired Apraava Energy, an integrated energy solutions provider, for an undisclosed amount. This corporate acquisition involves Jindal Power Limited taking ownership of Apraava, previously jointly owned by the CLP Group and Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec (CDPQ).
Apraava Energy, established in 2002, operates a diversified portfolio across India, with over 3,394 MW of installed capacity. Its assets include 1,200+ MW of wind and 250 MW of solar energy projects, a 1,320 MW coal-fired super critical power plant, and two power transmission assets across seven states. The company has also entered Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI), planning to install approximately 6.8 million smart meters. Apraava is committed to low-carbon growth areas, including renewable energy and power transmission, and has a validated commitment to the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi).
This strategic acquisition by Jindal Power Limited, a significant player in the energy sector, aims to strengthen its market position and diversify its offerings. Integrating Apraava Energy's assets provides Jindal Power Limited immediate access to a balanced mix of conventional and renewable energy sources, alongside critical transmission infrastructure. Apraava's clean energy focus and advanced metering solutions align with industry trends towards sustainable and smart grids, complementing Jindal Power Limited's existing operations.
The acquisition is expected to generate synergies through expanded operational scale and comprehensive service offerings. The combined entity will possess enhanced capabilities across generation, transmission, and energy management. This positions it to capitalize on India's evolving energy demands and accelerate investment in low-carbon growth. The integrated company is poised to bolster India’s transition to a cleaner energy future and contribute significantly to national energy security.
