Bending Spoons has acquired Airtable for $1.3 billion, a cash-and-stock transaction that transfers ownership of the no-code app development platform to the Italian technology group. The deal, which closed this week, gives Bending Spoons full control of Airtable’s operations, product roadmap, and customer base.

Airtable provides an AI-powered app platform that allows businesses to build custom applications, automations, and AI agents without writing code. Its tools are used by more than 500,000 organizations, including a substantial portion of the Fortune 100, to manage marketing campaigns, product workflows, and operational processes. Bending Spoons, known for acquiring and scaling mobile and productivity applications, will now integrate Airtable’s enterprise-focused platform into its portfolio, which already includes popular consumer apps.

The acquisition is strategic for Bending Spoons, which has built a track record of purchasing established software products and improving their monetization and efficiency. Airtable brings a strong enterprise presence and a recurring revenue model, complementing Bending Spoons’ consumer-oriented offerings. For Airtable, the deal provides access to Bending Spoons’ operational expertise in product optimization and growth, potentially accelerating the platform’s adoption among larger teams.

Under the new ownership, Airtable will continue to operate as a standalone product, with its existing team expected to remain in place during the transition. Bending Spoons plans to invest in Airtable’s AI capabilities, particularly its Superagent feature, which enables users to create AI-driven workflows. The combined entity will focus on expanding Airtable’s reach beyond its current customer base while maintaining the no-code simplicity that has defined the platform.

The transaction marks a shift in Airtable’s trajectory from a venture-backed startup to a subsidiary of a larger software group. With Bending Spoons’ resources and operational focus, the platform is positioned to deepen its enterprise integrations and compete more directly with other low-code and AI workflow tools. The coming quarters will show how effectively the two teams align their product strategies and whether Airtable’s growth accelerates under its new parent company.
