Dubai Aerospace Enterprise has acquired Aircraft Leasing Ireland for an undisclosed amount. This strategic move sees a global aviation services company take ownership of the leading representative body for Ireland's significant aircraft leasing sector.
Aircraft Leasing Ireland (ALI), formed in July 2018 and a constituent part of Ibec, serves as the dedicated group for the aircraft leasing industry in Ireland. With 37 member companies, ALI focuses on the continued development and success of the sector, guided by an independent policy mandate. Its work program spans critical areas including Digitalisation, Double Tax Treaties, Education & Skills, Diversity, and HR/Leadership. Notably, ALI launched a major report on Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) in Aviation in January 2022, mapping the sector's role in the journey to Net Zero, followed by an ALI Sustainability Charter.
The acquisition by Dubai Aerospace Enterprise underscores the importance of Ireland's role in the global aircraft leasing market. For DAE, this transaction represents an opportunity to directly integrate and influence the policy and advocacy efforts central to the industry's future. By bringing ALI under its umbrella, DAE can leverage ALI's established network and expertise in shaping industry standards, particularly in areas like sustainability and regulatory frameworks, which are increasingly vital for aviation.
This acquisition is expected to create synergies by aligning ALI's industry development and policy work with DAE's broader strategic objectives in aviation. The combined entity is poised to enhance its impact on the global aircraft leasing landscape, driving forward key initiatives and contributing to the sector's evolution, particularly in sustainable practices and regulatory advancements.
