ORIX Aviation

ORIX Aviation has acquired AerFin, an aircraft, engine, and parts trading and leasing specialist, for an undisclosed amount. The deal brings AerFin under the ownership of the Japan-based aviation lessor, which will now control the company’s operations and strategic direction. AerFin will continue to operate under its existing brand, but as a wholly owned subsidiary of ORIX Aviation.

AerFin buys, sells, leases, and repairs aircraft, engines, and components, serving more than 600 customers across six continents through regional hubs in Europe, Asia-Pacific, and the Americas. Its business model focuses on extending the useful life of aviation assets and providing lower-cost material supply to airlines, lessors, and maintenance, repair, and overhaul providers. ORIX Aviation, a global aircraft leasing and management firm, has built a portfolio around long-term asset ownership and fleet financing.

The acquisition is intended to broaden ORIX Aviation’s capabilities beyond traditional leasing into the secondary market for parts and end-of-life aircraft. AerFin’s technical expertise in disassembly, repair, and redistribution of components complements ORIX’s existing asset management strengths. For ORIX, the move adds a trading and aftermarket services arm that can generate revenue from assets that have reached the end of their primary leasing cycle. For AerFin, ownership under a larger lessor provides access to a wider pool of aircraft and engines, potentially increasing the volume of material it can source and resell.

The combined entity is expected to offer a more integrated service to customers, spanning full-lifecycle asset management from new aircraft delivery to parts harvesting. ORIX Aviation gains a direct foothold in the parts supply chain, while AerFin can leverage ORIX’s balance sheet and global network to expand its trading volumes. The transaction is subject to customary closing conditions, with both companies indicating that integration will proceed smoothly given their complementary, rather than overlapping, operations. The deal positions the enlarged group to capture more value from the growing market for used aircraft and components.
