Sorted by signal type: company and people events, engagement on social, and the orchestration layer that routes them into your engine.

Every vendor now calls their data a signal. Hear me out on this one.

The word got popular, so alerts, scores and stale database rows all picked it up. Meanwhile the teams actually winning on signals buy something narrower: a verifiable event, tied to one company, fresh enough to act on this week.

A signal needs verification, context, and somewhere to land inside your engine, a bar we set out in the evolution of signal-based GTM. That is why this guide sorts the 9 best buying signal providers by signal family: company and people events, engagement on social, and the orchestration layer that routes both.

What are B2B buying signals?

B2B buying signals are observable events that suggest a company is worth a conversation now: a funding round, a senior hire, an executive departure, a prospect engaging with your space on social. Sales teams also call these trigger events, and the definition matters because it excludes most of what gets sold under the word.

A useful buying signal has three properties. It is verifiable, so there is a source you can check before acting. It is attributable, so it ties to one company or one person rather than an anonymous aggregate. And it is fresh, because the value decays in days. We keep the full definition in the glossary, alongside how it differs from intent data.

Freshness is the property with a number on it. In our study of 474 funded companies the median gap between a round and the first job posting was 35 days, and the fastest movers were inside two weeks. For a sales team, a signal acted on this week is an advantage. The same signal in next month's list export is everyone's, which is what buying signal tools exist to prevent.

The two buying signal families, and the layer underneath

Family 1
Company and people events

Something happened at the account or to a person in it. A funding round, a senior hire, an exec departure, an acquisition. Verifiable, datable, attributable.

Family 2
Engagement signals

Someone is paying attention. A prospect posting about a problem you solve, engaging a competitor, or warming to your content on social.

The layer underneath
Orchestration

Not a signal source. The layer your signal feeds and data vendors plug into: tables, flows and agents that combine them with enrichment and route the result into your CRM or sequences.

Most buying signal lists mix these three into one ranking, which is how a social listening tool ends up compared against a funding database. They answer different questions. Events tell you what happened at the company. Engagement tells you someone is paying attention, and it stays an inference about interest rather than a company event, which can mislead on its own. You need the company signals next to it to map the full story. Orchestration decides where all of it lands.

One scope note. Signal-based GTM is much more than running outbound. Website visitor signals, paid ads signals and product usage signals are real families too, and they feed marketing and product motions of their own. We keep this page to the outbound slice, because that is where most teams searching for buying signals need clarity first.

How we chose these buying signal providers

First cut: which family. A provider is only comparable to others in its own family, and the biggest buying mistake in this category is comparing across them.

Second cut: evidence. Signals that arrive with a source you can check outrank scores that ask to be trusted.

Third cut: where it stops. Every entry names its own limit, including ours. A guide where the author's product has no weaknesses is an ad.

Company and people event buying signals

The verifiable family: funding rounds, hiring signals, job change signals and M&A. Each is a datable event with a source, which lets signal detection run at the account level and gives a rep something to reference in a message without guessing.

01

Signalbase

Company & people events
Founded 2025 · Amsterdam, NL · From €200/mo · 7-day trial
FitsSMBMid-marketEnterprise
Best for teams that want net new accounts with signals, or the latest signals on a list they already have.
Signalbase is real-time signal infrastructure that sources, verifies and contextualizes signals the moment an event occurs. One subscription gives you the live stream of signals together with enrichments and monitoring on your own list. Every result carries people data, the sources and the stacked signals for that company.
Signalbase homepage, July 2026
Where it stops
We give you the social media profiles of the relevant team members, so you know who moved and who to approach, but we do not carry emails or phone numbers. Reaching those people means enriching the company further with a contact provider, and we do not run the outreach for you.
02

Crunchbase

Founded 2007 · San Francisco, US · Published tiers
FitsSMBMid-market
Good for funding history and investor relationships as reference data you can browse.
Crunchbase has published funding and investor records since 2007. Rounds, investors and company profiles are browsable, and seat-based pricing makes it easy for a small team to start.
Crunchbase homepage, July 2026
Where it stops
Scoped to funding and company records, so hiring, job changes and the wider event surface sit outside it. It is also read as a research destination more than a delivery layer, which matters when you want the event to reach a workflow rather than a browser tab.

Engagement buying signals

The attention family, and the closest thing to person-level buyer intent. These providers watch social platforms for the moments that precede a conversation: a prospect posting about the problem, engaging a competitor, or warming to your content.

03

Extrovert

LinkedIn-first · Free trial · From $49/user/mo
FitsSMBMid-market
Good for building familiarity on LinkedIn before the outreach ever lands.
Extrovert tracks your prospects and topics on LinkedIn, then suggests comments and DMs from your own playbook so a rep can stay visible in fifteen minutes a day. The bet is that recognition earns the reply, and the tool is built around getting known before you pitch.
Extrovert homepage, July 2026
Where it stops
Scoped to LinkedIn and to the accounts you track, so it deepens relationships with a known list rather than surfacing companies you never named. The motion also needs a human in the loop, which is the point, and also the ceiling on volume.
04

Trigify

Social signal layer · 14-day trial · From $40/mo
FitsSMBMid-market
Good for person-level engagement signals routed into workflows and agents.
Trigify monitors 11 or more social platforms for person-level signals: who engaged a competitor, who posted about a tracked topic, who changed roles. Delivery runs through workflows, a REST API, MCP for agents and pushes into Slack and CRMs, which makes it unusually pluggable for its price.
Trigify homepage, July 2026
Where it stops
Engagement tells you someone is paying attention, and it stays an inference about interest rather than a company event you can verify against a filing or an announcement. The two read best together rather than as substitutes.

The signal orchestration layer

Orchestration tools are not signal sources. They sit underneath your signal feeds and data vendors as the layer everything plugs into, combining them with routing logic, and every serious signal stack ends up running one.

This layer is also where custom signals live today. The trigger that defines your niche, a fleet expanding or a regulation triggering, is usually nobody's product, so teams build it here themselves. That works, demands real GTM knowledge, and produces a workflow rather than a standalone signal. Custom signals are not an established category so far. We are building that route into Signalbase, with custom signal families coming in Q4.

05

Clay

Founded 2017 · New York, US · Free tier · From $167/mo
FitsSMBMid-market
Best for GTM engineers orchestrating signal feeds and data vendors in one table.
Clay is where your providers meet. Waterfall enrichment tries vendors in order until a field fills, signal feeds land in the same table, and the table plus AI model has become how a lot of GTM engineering gets done. We see plenty of teams running Signalbase inside Clay.
Clay homepage, July 2026
Where it stops
Output is only as good as the sources you plug in, and credits accumulate quickly across a waterfall. It orchestrates rather than originates, so the freshness question moves to whichever vendor sits underneath.
06

Databar

Amsterdam, NL · Credit-based · Spreadsheet, API and flows
FitsSMBMid-market
Good for teams that want 160+ data sources behind one spreadsheet and flow builder.
Databar aggregates over 160 live data providers into one workspace, with a spreadsheet for the team, flows for trigger and route logic, and an API underneath. Funding, hiring and job change feeds sit alongside waterfall contact enrichment, so signal and contact work happen in the same place.
Databar homepage, July 2026
Where it stops
An aggregator by design, so coverage and freshness depend on the providers you route through it. The credit model also rewards knowing which source answers which question, which takes a few weeks of use to learn.
07

Freckle

Backed by Gradient Ventures · Free tier · From $99/mo
FitsSMBMid-market
Good for GTM engineers who want Clay-style workflows run from the terminal.
Freckle calls itself the Clay alternative for GTM engineers who live in coding agents, and the 2.0 release leans into that: workflows run from the terminal through a CLI, with a web app of workbooks on top for jobs like signup enrichment and customer job changes.
Freckle homepage, July 2026
Where it stops
Newer than Clay, so the provider network and community playbooks are thinner. The terminal-first shape also narrows it to teams with an engineer in the loop, and the visual workbooks cover fewer cases than a mature table.
08

Deepline

SDK, CLI and API · Pay-as-you-go · Growth $395/mo
FitsSMBMid-market
Good for teams that want 108+ GTM integrations behind one API and one bill.
Deepline wraps 108 or more GTM integrations into one API with one bill, built to be driven from Claude Code, Codex or any app. It runs enrichment, validation, scoring and waterfalls, then writes every result into a Postgres database you own, with per-data-point pricing shown before each run.
Deepline homepage, July 2026
Where it stops
The developer-first shape excludes the non-technical half of the team, and owning the database means owning the modelling too. Per-data-point costs also need watching at volume the same way credits do elsewhere.
09

Oxygen

Agent-native · From $99/mo
FitsSMBMid-market
Good for teams running GTM through Claude Code, Codex or MCP agents.
Oxygen is a GTM workspace built for AI agents from the start: signal feeds, waterfall enrichment across 10+ vendors, sequencing and a native CRM, all operable by Claude Code, Codex or MCP agents as well as humans. It bets that the next operator of your stack is an agent.
Oxygen homepage, July 2026
Where it stops
The all-in-one shape means adopting its CRM and sequencing alongside the orchestration, which is a bigger migration than adding one tool. The agent-first bet also assumes your team already works that way.

One caution before the omissions. Buying a B2B signal provider is not a silver bullet. A signal opens the conversation at the right moment, and everything after it, the message, the offer, the follow-through, still has to be yours. The teams that get value treat signals as context inside a bigger company story rather than as a trigger to fire off a sequence.

Buying signal providers that didn't make the list

6sense, Bombora, Demandbase and ZoomInfo Intent sell broad intent data: aggregated, topic-level, priced for enterprise ABM. That is a different purchase with different math, and we sorted it separately in the best intent data providers.

Ad intelligence signals are real: a company starting to run ads is a buying signal for agencies and martech vendors, and ad libraries make it observable. We skipped the family here to keep this list focused, and it deserves its own treatment.

LinkedIn Sales Navigator carries genuine signals inside it, saved-account alerts above all, and most teams should treat it as part of the prospecting stack rather than a signal provider. We covered it in the best B2B prospecting tools.
